Opus 40

A fantastical, architectural, bluestone earthwork made by the coolest kind of crazy guy there is, Opus 40 is a sculpture park in the Catskills… kind of. It’s a single gigantic work of art and ode to the upper-limits of personal fascination constructed using old Mayan “dry-key” techniques. When they were looking for a house in upstate New York (and still living in South Carolina), Sam brought Jack here for a really excellent birthday afternoon. They were both stunned that they grew up 2 or 3 hours away from it and had never been.

Your kids are welcome to come along! We love you and yourn!

Just know that the place is both potentially dangerous and deceptively fragile. If your kids are prone to running and jumping around wantonly, or sneaking off and fucking around with things they shouldn’t, there is nothing wrong with that, but please don’t bring them this time.

The venue may require baby-sitters for kids under 12, but we are trying to find out more information about that.
