FAQs
What should I wear?
We are going to be in comfortable finery, dressed like well-to-do Hobbits, and we encourage you to do the same! Weather in upstate NY at the end of September is likely to be pleasant and in the 70s, but there are obviously no guarantees. This is an outdoor wedding in an outdoor sculpture park, and we want our guests to enjoy the outdoor beauty in comfort.
*Important footwear note- heels are not recommended! Sam can't walk in high heels in the best of conditions, and with the uneven stone we'll be walking on, she'll definitely be wearing flat shoes (or sneakers much to Jack's chagrin).
Should we bring the kids?
If it is possible to leave them in someone else’s care for the time you plan to be in the Saugerties area, that would be recommended, as the park has very little in the way of ‘child-friendly’ features. Lots of sharp rocks and pools of still water. If you do bring kids, please just make sure you keep them close. The venue folks are very anxious about it.
Will there be seating for the ceremony?
We are currently planning to have a standing ceremony (don’t worry, it will be brief) so that we can all be out on the main section of the sculpture together. We will be able to provide seats for anyone who would like one, though, so if you’re a little wobbly just let us know. There is not really any good place to put a LOT of seats in rows on the sculpture. Details of this are still TBD with the officiant.
Will there be transportation?
Yes! We will have 3 pickup times beforehand and 3 drop-off times afterwards, all between the venue and the Woodstock Elementary School parking lot:
Woodstock Elementary
8 W Hurley Rd, Woodstock, NY 12498
Pickup times are 1:15, 1:45, and 2:15 (subject to minor change)
Departure times are 8:30, 9:30, and 10:30
Can I drive my own car?
Yes, there is plenty of parking at the venue, just make sure you have a DD to bring you home, as we really don’t want anyone dead, maimed, or mangled on our wedding day.
